Woman Doctors Association along with Women’s Indian Association conducted a health awareness talk (My health, My right) on April 6th 2024 at WIA premises for World Health Day, sponsored by AIWC, New Delhi.
Renowned Women Doctors from various specialities spoke on various health issues, its prevention and daily care. The audience were members of women association and vocational trainee nurses.

Health Talk Activities
- D. Archanaa, Consultant Psychiatrist spoke on mental health. The doctor gave advice on how to detect mental illness and the importance of seeking help if there is any psychiatric problem.
- T.B. Umadevi, MD, internal medicine gave an elaborate talk on prevention of diseases like hypertension, diabetes, obesity and heart disease. The doctor advised on the importance of balanced diet, exercises, regular health check up.
- M. Banupriya, oncologist demonstrated the method of how to do self breast examination to detect early cancers. The doctor also explained the vaccine preventable disease like Human Papilloma virus infection.
- Hemanandhini, ophthalmologist spoke on the do’s and dont’s of eye care and threw light on common eye diseases. She also emphasized on the importance of eye donation.
- Maheswari (ENT Surgeon) spoke on common ENT problems, daily care of ear, nose and throat.
- Uma maheswari, Paediatrician gave a talk on the childhood vaccination. She discussed the commonly asked questions raised by parents and cleared the doubts of the audience.
- T.K. Shaanthy Gunasingh, obstetrician and gynaecologist explained the importance of adult vaccination especially for older individuals. Vaccine preventable diseases were highlighted in ppt for better understanding.
- Indira. N. gave a lecture on abnormal uterine bleeding in various age groups. The hormonal imbalance and lifestyle factors in abnormal bleeding and the need for regular pap smear check up to detect early cancer was emphasized.
