Woman Doctors Association TN Annual conference 2012 – Report
WDA TN Annual conference 2012 was conducted on Saturday 13 October 2012 at Hotel Marina Towers Egmore.
On Friday 12 October 2012 paper presentation by UGs, PGs & Assistant Proffesors was conducted at Madras Medical College Physiology hall. Ten paper presentations by UGs, six by PGs and three papers by Assistant Proffessors. Dr.Cynthia Alexander retiredDirector IOG and Dr.Manjula Devi Professor Biochemistry Balaji Medical College were the judges for paper presentation by UGs and Dr.A.R.Malathy Professor of Medicine K.K.Nagar ESI hospital PGIMSR and Dr.N.Nirmala Professor of Physiology Venkateswara Medical college Pondicherry were the judges for PGs and Assistant Professors paper presentation. Miss Neelapriyadharshini IV semester student from Saveetha Medical College was given the best paper award for her presentation titled “Profile of PAP smear study in Medical college hospital”. Dr.P.Shanija DM(GE) PG Madras Medical college was given the best paper award for her presentation titled “Spectrum of Achalasia cardia and efficacy of pneumatic dilatation”
On Saturday 13 October 2012, 115 delegates attended the conference. Registration was done from 8.30am. Dr.Vijaya Sethumadhavan, Nephrologist from Mehta Hospital spoke on “Impact of Life style & Environment on Kidney”. Dr.Kalpana Gowrishankar paediatrician from Child Trust hospital spoke on “Genetic Disorders–Assessment & Management”
At 11.00am Inaugural function started with Invocation song. Dr.SumithraShanmugam President WDA TN welcomed the gathering. Dr.MadhanikaMadhavan Treasurer introduced the Chief guest Padmashri, Padmabooshan Dr.SarojiniVaradhappan who delivered the Inaugural address. The President introduced Mrs.Nina Reddy, Director Savera Hotel who released the Souvenir and addressed the gathering. Dr.Sharadha Menon gave certificate to paper presenters. Dr.M.L.Shyamala, secretary WDA TN proposed the vote of thanks.
Sushrutha Oration was delivered by Dr.Rajeswari Ramachandran, DM(Neurology) and she spoke on “Think TB – a reminder to clinicians”.
Dr.Jones Oration was delivered by Dr.Saranya Narayan, MD(Microbiology) and she spoke on “Packing the parachute”.
Dr.Indrani Suresh Director Mediscan systems spoke on “Foetal Master Health check up” and Dr.Angeline Selvaraj plastic surgeon Kilpauk Medical college hospital spoke on “Recent trends in management of Burns”.
At 2.15pm there was a Panel discussion on “Hepatitis B infection awareness”. Dr.Jayanthi, DM(GE) was the moderator. The Panelists were Dr.Vijayalakshmi Thanasekharaan, Dr.Usha Dorairajan, Dr.R.Rani, Dr.Padma Chandrasekharan, Dr.T.L.RatnaKumari and Dr.Vijaya Srinivasan.
The Orators, Speakers and Panelists made an excellent coverage of their topics and the delegates appreciated it.
General body meeting was held at 3.30pm
